I have a 1992 d150 318 swapped into a 1956 Dodge Regent. I drove it to work today and it worked fine. Once it was time to leave, I started it to let it warm up. It ran for a minute and died. When it started it revved up, lowered to idle, dropped below idle, lost cylinders, and stopped altogether. I had to get a ride home because it wouldn't even try to start again. Any ideas?

 

Efi or carb?

 

Pull the fuel line off the output side of the fuel pump and have someone turn the engine over to see if the pump is good.

Oh, you have electric pump. I was thinking mechanical.

 

Shoot some starting fluid or brake cleaner (that doesn't say non-flammable) into the intake. If it starts for a bit then dies, you have a fuel supply problem. I'm thinking your fuel pump or pump relay might have gone south. If it won't start at all, you have an electrical issue.

 

The fuel pump is completely dead. I'm getting a new one tomorrow, so hopefully that fixes it.
