I always thought they were two completely different engines..... The truck V-10 was just an expanded 5.9, and a LOT of parts interchange..... the Viper V-10 though, was a design by Lotus..... and a rather different animal. No idea how much truth to that.
Probably a mix of both I suppose, Dodge didnt want to spend the money to design a transmission too lol
Didn't the SRT 10 trucks use the viper motor??? I didn't think the 48 would even bolt to that......
Yes viper motor and either did I. I always wondered why they didn't make a automatic viper. My guess is they didn't think the 47/8 would be up to the task and have a lot of warranty issues. I wonder if there is anything different in the 4 door srt trucks to make them bolt up? The viper motor went threw some changes over the years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viper_engine
