Default 88 D100 valve breather

Looking to simplify the 318 TBI I have. It runs good, but no sense in having things that I don't need if by removing them, I'm not damaging or negatively impacting the engine or its performance. My ECM works fine and at this point, I don't want to tinker with it. That'll be another day when I look to remove the smog pump, EGR, etc.

The passenger side valve cover breather has an air hose connected into the air filter housing unit as originally built. Will it be harmful if I plug the hole in the air filter housing & do away with the hose to the valve cover breather and replacing stock breather with a stand-alone breather filter that does not need the hose

Thoughts?

Shouldn't matter. So long as the air gets filtered before it goes into the engine, that's all you really care about.

Thanks. I pulled it yesterday & replace it with a stand alone crankcase breather filter. Just left the port open to the air filter housing for now. Runs just fine.

You wanna plug that port. I believe that is post-air filter, and as such, the engine will pull unfiltered air thru that port.

I think I would just put a cap on it. Quick, painless, and easy.
