Default 89 D-150 Power Windows?

Hey guys, new to the forum but have had Mopars all my life

Last summer I bought a 89 D-150 and finally got around to working on it. The power windows didn't work, the gear drive needed work. My issue is the only time they work is when the key is in the "run" position. I'm pretty sure when I was trouble shooting it last fall the window motors would run in the "acc" or "on" positions. I'm hoping the ignition switch isn't going bad, but that's my first guess.

Any other place to look?

Thanks, Justin

On and Run are the same thing, are they not?

I don't think the windows in my truck work in accessory either.... they can be a pretty heavy draw. Mine is a 98 though....

You are probably right. My switch has, accessory, off, a position nothing is on, on/run and start. I'll start looking for an ignition switch.

See if they have wiring diagrams for your truck here. Dig thru those, and see where you are losing power. However, if the motors actually run with the ignition On, I suspect there isn't a problem. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

After digging around in my fsm, it appears the only time my windows should work is when the key is in the on/run position. My buddy has an 86 and his work in the ACC position. I still have an extra position on my switch between off and on/run, I’ll buy a new switch.
