Default Transmission Failure (Again)

My A-727 went out on me yesterday. My question is will a TCI Sizzler Transmission (Summit Racing Model Number TCI-111338, http://www.summitracing.com ) designed to replace an A-904 work with my D150. It has the 318, RWD, and A-727.

You will have to probably get a new torque converter, output shaft from a the A904, and the driveshaft lengthened/shortend(dont remember which) I am sitting on what to do to my project ram. I have a 85 D150 with a 318 and A999(beefed up A904) and blew transmission. From what I understand the A727 is the best built transmission for our trucks. So I am waiting thill I cna get a TCI Sizzler A727 trans, output shaft, torque conv, and crossmeber(if needed) to swap in a A727. Then i wil still have to deal with the driveshaft issue, but thats small. The A727 has the largest aftermarket(shift kits, rebuild kits, ect) in the Chrysler family as far I know also. Are you going to do the transmission replacement yourself?

I might not replace it if I can repair it. Also, what's the easiest way to know for sure that my transmission is indeed an A-727? There's a change I might be wrong.

Heres a link to another forum and thread, about how I am in the slow process of gettign together my transmission. Check you transmission number(on the trans pan). You most liekly have a A999 or A727, I have the A999 with the trque converter w/lock-up and long tail shaft.
you'll have to type it in your browser's url

Thanks for the link. I noticed the years that those transmissions fit ended in 1979 (A-727) and 1980 (A-904/A-998/A-999). What's the reason for this and is there any way to make them work with my 1984 D150?

Scratch that, the A-904 replacement will work with mine if I have an A-900 Series transmission.

Alright, it is an A-904. I dug up the old records and transmission work invoices today. How hard is it to get the old transmission out and what needs to come off to get the transmission off?

I'm getting the new transmission in about a month, I just switched jobs and my finances have went straight down the ****ter. Hopefully, that will soon be fixed. How hard is it to replace it myself or should I have someone else do it? I'm still debating.
