Default 92 w150 tranny

Does anyone happen to know if a tranny out of a 99 1500 will work for my 92 w150 4x4? I think that they are the 46re trans. Thanks Dave.

Probably not due to all of the differences in the LA and Magnum blocks and all of the ECU and transmission computers. If you have an A-904, do what I did, get a TCI Sizzler transmission and a TCI Breakaway torque converter. That cost about $950 shipped. It rules.

This is what I posted in reply to this thread in the 2nd gen section...for future reference for anyone else:

No...your 92 has the 46RH transmission in it. The 46RE wasn't used in trucks until 1998. It's shifts are electronically controlled by the computer (Hence the E) while the RH's shifts are hydraulic controlled (Hence the H). The only thing electronically controlled on the RH is the OD unit.

The magnum and LA blocks aren't all that different iirc, just the heads and valvetrain for the most part.

It should bolt right up, but you'll have to do some wiring magic and figure out how to get the ecu/tcu to work. Not worth the hassle imho.
