Help I have a ram 250 5.2 very good engine can start some times runs good other times fuel pump shuts down have changed pump and relays there is no fault codes coming up problem is intermitent dont know what else to try.

 

Has the pump itself been replaced? If not, try doing that.

Are you SURE it's the pump shutting down? Does the truck lose fuel pressure when it dies or is something else causing it?

 

have you changed fuel filter(s)? Check map sensor,crank sensor,coil, iacv? My brothers truck is a 96 ram and it was doing a simlar thing and it was the iacv. we changed it and took the N battery cable off and put back on turned the key switch on and off SLOWLY to let the fuel pump prime 3 times and have not had any trouble since.

Hi yes have took fuel feed pipe off on engine and nothing have changed filter checked line is clean and not blocked pump runs good with temp power on and some times on the van but then it just suts down.When shuts down there is no power to relays. system just shuts down

Idle Air Control Vavle....IAC...it's on the side of the throttle body.

Does this have multi port injection or TBI? Sounds like you have a bad pickup assembly in the distributor or a bad crank sensor(MPFI only) on the bellhousing. If either are bad the computer will turn off power to the ASD relay. This relay feeds the ignition and fuel system power.
