Default Holley 500 on 2bbl intake?

Gentlemen,

Will a 500 Holley bolt right on a Dodge 2bbl intake (in my case 86 Dodge 318 2bbl)? My 86 Dodge still has the original carb but it's acting up. I'd like a little bigger carb to help with towing, otherwise the truck is bone stock minus dual exhaust.

Thanks,
Johnny

I don't think so. I'm not an expert and I didn't stay at a Holliday Inn Express last night but when I swapped a 360 into my '85 W150 it had a Holley 500 on it and the mounting flange and bolt spacing were different.

YMMV!

you might be able to use an adapter, but no the 4bbl won't bolt directly up. The 2bbl is much smaller diameter.

Sorry I didn't clarify, the 500 Holley is a 2bbl. I've been kicking around with a bigger 2bbl or going 4bbl.

Oh. I'd go 4bbl with the oem iron manifold. You should see better idle/off idle response as well as perhaps a little better fuel economy since the primaries would be smaller.

YES with an adaptor. I just removed my suckie 2BBL Carter and replaced it with a manual choke 500 cfm 2bbl Holley Carburetor 4412 . i used an adaptor from Summit
Carburetor Adapter, Open Center, Holley 2-Barrel Carburetor/Rochester 2-Barrel Manifold, .500 in. Thick, Each

Rogertc1,

I regretfully didn't ride her too far because I have some wiring problems. I found the Holley much more responsive that the Carter. and the Holley only cost around $200.00 for a very well rebuilt one. (A lot out there on e-bay).
I thought of going to 4bbl but didn't want to spend more $ on the changes to do it.

Default RE: Holley 500 on 2bbl intake?UPDATE

Got my electricle problem fixed///
Holley is great starts without even touching the gas.
I have to adjust the idol down a little.
Advise get a Holley manual choke cable off Summit. the one I got in the local parts store is too whimpy. Rreally gives the engine a clean look. Has a chrome free flow filter that looks great too.
I'll try a gas milage check today.

Roger
