Keys Lost 1987 Dodge Power Ram W100
time to start the old dodge plow truck and keys are gone.. What are my options for getting a key for this OLD truck? Can these be ordered anywhere by vin# or do I just need to get a locksmith over?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply.. I have gone that route and the dealer is having a problem finding the code for the key.. The last I heard the people at Chrysler/Dodge that the parts guy is dealing with need to go to an archive which is entails looking in a book and I am still waiting.. He suggested that if this doesn't work out then I will have to remove the old ignition and replace it, so that will be a lot of fun as I have never removed a steering wheel and done something like this..
It might be easier/faster to just get a locksmith to figure it out. It could involve new locks/ignition, or perhaps it would be easier to just bust the ignition and put a start button in it.
Wont help for the door key-but if you remove the ign. cyl the codes are stamped in the cyl. take to dealer or locksmith to cut key. Work at a combo G.M.-DODGE dealer, If I remember can only go back to 1992 with Dodge vins for keycut, G.M. can go to 1990.

My local dealership needs the vin number to order a set of keys. They can order the door or the ignition or both. I not sure the cost or the time it would take.

Thanks.. appreciate the info.. Do I have to remove the steering wheel to get at the codes? If I can avoid that at all that would ideal - maybe just removing the plastic around the column etc.. not sure..
Thanks again..
