440 install
did it to my truck about 2 years ago its a 88 ram that had a 318, much more poweful
anyone else do this swap
took it to the track with the 318 ran a 19.3 then with the 440 in and ran a 16.3 (still stock cam) just got a 2200 stall and electric fan over the heavy clutch fan. takin it to the track next month to see if i can pull a high 15 , also still has stock 3.21 gears, thinking about 3.55 or 3.90

i havent done the swap yet but did swap in my 360 which was modded with a port matched and polished head a 520 lift cam and intake headers full elec conversion using a tf727 still in testing phases but should see 15's easy i do plan on a larger shot of nitrous has well and eventully a full suspension mod with custom front suspension to use coilovers and a rear 4 link with coil overs eventully i would like 11 second passes
i think i will be happy with low 14's when i get there. i still want to be able to drive the truck regulary. stock cam on my motor is a 425 lift cam, yeah needs a voodoo, they seem to be the best
I had an 85 short bed and put a 383 4 barrel into. used the 8.75 3.23 one wheel wonder rear end in it. out in north dakota on the looonnngg flatsI could walk away from other kids new chevy vortec motors like nothing. in town on late night humid streets the one wheel could lay a lot of smoke. the truck was pretty fast!!! at about 50 mph when it shifted from 1st to 2nd it would jerk the truck and bark the tires!!
Would like to do the same with my truck. I have been tossing the idea around for a while. Im leaning towards a built 360 though vice the 440 as I want run AC and use the truck for towing and my daily driver? Any thoughts on this??? I have a 1990 4x4 5.2 L TBFI
