Fuel Tank question.?
Hey Crew,
I have a question. It states on my window sticker that my SXT Avenger 2.4 has a 16.9 gallon tank. I just filled my tank and full til it came out of the filler.. whoops lol and it only took 12.6 gallons. Do the Avengers depending on the motor come with different size tanks? I think its weird that my car would loose 4 gallons somewhere.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

All 2008 Avenger models come with a 16.9 Gallon gas tank.. whether that figure is accurate or not is another matter since I have not ran the car dry then refilled the tank so I can't say with absolute certainty that 16.9 Gallons is accurately measured by Dodge..
Chances are you had another 4 gallons of gas in the tank and even though the gauge was reading empty it still could have went lower. I had a few cars that would display way below the empty line when it was actually empty.

I have consistently filled my tank up with 14-15 gallons. I typically run it down until the light comes on but this isn't a good practice.
It's more of a convenience issue. Anyway, I believe that when the needle is on the red line and your light is on, you typically have 2-4 gallons of gas remaining. I think the fuel light comes on when the distance to empty meter reads about 30-40 miles to empty.
