Alarming question

My daughter has a 2012 SXT Plus Avenger. It has an alarm system from the factory. How do you know it works short of breaking into the car? Is there a test that can done to proof the system?

Yeah roll down the drivers side window use the key fob to lock the doors, reach in the window pull the door open it should set the alarm off. It does that on my 2010.
