I have a 2008 Avenger Se 2.4l and today driving home it sounded like my tranny was whiningpretty loud and it felt like it was almost slipping. Also when I stopped it the engine was louder almost like a truck it was strange. I checked the fluid but it was fine but the book said if its a fleet vehicle to do a tranny fluid service at 60k and Im at 54k could that fix it? Please help!

If you still have a powertrain warranty, Get it to the dealer. The noise you are hearing maybe the transmission front pump. If you don't know if you still have warranty, send me a pm with the last 9 of your vin.

 

2008 2.4 l avenger, moves in reverse but nothing else? Was low on fluid. Not knowing any better I put in the wrong fluid. Is it worth a new filter and fluid to fix on a chance when i might need a new transmission?

 

Did you put engine oil in or transmission fluid? Also did the check engine lamp come on when you were having this problem.
