Default 2010 Avenger temperature gauge

I bought my 2010 avenger used this past November right before the start of the worst winter in Illinois ever. I bought it with only 19,000 miles and now have 27,000 miles on it.

The temperature always stayed around the 1/4 line. Now the last two days it has reached the 70s and 80s and the temperature gauge has reached right under the 1/2 line. There are no leaks, cracks or puddles coming from the car. The resivior is still full and the fans are running when the car is running.

Is this something normal to be happening with the outside temperature change or should I take this in and have a warranty check on it.

The gauge should always hang around/below the 1/2 mark. That would typically be "operating temperature"

You likely had a bad sensor from the day you bought it. They are made of plastic and will sometimes ooze coolant up through the middle and corrode the contacts. You won't really see it until you take it out. They are very easy to put in.

Then there is the stuck open thermostat possibility.

I live in South Florida and my temperature gauge is always around the 1/2 mark when driving for awhile. The temperatures here are in the mid 80's to low 90's so it is normal on my 2009 Avenger.
