Opinions on mods for a 2001 Dodge Dakota
I recently bought a 2001 Dodge Dakota 5 speed, and I am making it my project truck, and I would like opinions to make it as fast as i possibly can. Here's what I'm planning on doing so far:
I have a Chevy 350 with a 4 bolt main. I want to stroke it out to 383's with a heavy cam. I want to run about 450 to 500 horsepower and have it already set up for turbos so I could get about 800 horsepower out of it when done. Also want to mini tub the rear end and run a 9 inch rear diff with 410 gears. Also want to give it stiffer shocks and lower them a bit with a little bit of stance. Staggered wheels, and fat tires on the back. I'm planning on having it done in about a year, and will be posting before and after pics. I'm not focusing on the body until mechanically it's all done.

If you're going to put a turbo on it, you should build it for a turbo from the get-go. In order to get 500HP out of a 383, you're going to need quite a bit of compression, which won't be very compatible with a turbo unless you run alcohol and aluminum heads.
It sounds like a pretty ambitious project. Hopefully, you have plenty of cubic dollars to throw at it. Good luck!
