Default Just bought 2004 Dakota & Joined DODGE FORUM

I just purchased a 2004 Dodge Dakota Sport Club Cab 4.7L V8 4x4, only 102500 miles. The truck was in Delaware for the last 12 years. It was shipped to a small used car dealer near Rockford, IL where I bought it for $4477.00 which I consider a good deal as I have been looking months. It is virtually rust free, very clean interior overall very good condition. It had a "new" engine professionally installed in Delaware 20,000 miles ago. I am currently battling a serious illness and cannot drive. I am using the truck for more incentive to get well and to keep my mind occupied. I will be able to do some work on it but the majority of the work will be done by 2 of my sons who are Gear Heads and both had 2nd Gen Dakotas as their 1st vehicles in High School. In my opinion Dodge Dakotas are great trucks and the 2nd Gen is the best looking body style. I previously owned a 1997 Dodge 2500 club cab V8 4x4 8' bed and loved it. I don't need that big of a truck anymore. I am posting a couple of pictures. It looks shinier in the pics than in real life so one of the projects for next summer will be painting it Metallic Black, since it is already black we will not paint the door jambs etc.. Also want to put stock rims on it. I'm sure I will learn a lot on this forum. By the way

I also have '54 & '56 Dodge Power Wagons the old style which were made from 1946-1968 (the cabs are actually the same as a 1939 Dodge truck). I plan on restoring/customizing these with my sons when I recover.

The paint looks good as is, May just need to do some clear with flakes to give it the metallic look.

Most of the paint is good. If you zoom in on the drivers fender the paint is pitted quite a bit. also a few other places. For the time being I'm considering getting a kit from AUTOMOTIVE TOUCH UP and painting the fender and repairing the rust on the corner of the passenger door. Also buffing out some scratches and waxing it. I am replacing the Head and Tail lights too. Thanks for the tips. I'm enjoying this sight already!
