Default Engine question

I have a 1999 Dakota with the 3.9. I just bought it and I am unsure on what route to go with repairing this thing. I have no engine codes, but the truck intermittently stalls out after starting and then I have to give it gas in order to make it run, other times it will fire and run with no issues. It also lacks power, it almost feels like there is no power band to it. It makes a weird cracking noise once I hit about 4,700-5,000 rpm, however I feel this is another issue that isn't related. I have replaced the throttle position sensor because it had a code for it previously. I also cleaned the throttle body and the IAC. Im not sure if this helps but the truck has around 165,000 miles, and I am unsure of the last major tuneup.

Check fuel pressure and go ahead and replace the plugs, oil change and air filter.

Default Update

The truck had a huge backfire and now it runs great! Unfortunately now I have a intermittent no bus or blank odometer and my gauges are acting like they on something.
