is there a death flash for the 3.9 magnums? i know other engines have gotten them and i just want to make sure mine doesnt have it. Ive had my truck to the dealer before and if they death flashed im gonna make them fix it.

what is the number on your ecm...?

 

there's 2 stickers on the ecm. the first one i'm assuming is the one that came on it and it says 527AA, the 2nd one says authorized software update and it says 233AC sequence number 283400. does anyone know what that means?

 

iirc a death flash "detunes" your engine to reduce pinging. and it will say on your ECM if you have it. but I forget the markings for it.

Its marked by the Code of the ECU

The first code you listed tells you if you have it or not.

527AA <-- AA = Stock

If it was 527AB then that means you have the D-Flash.

As far as i know, they only did it to select engines mostly 5.9s that had a deto/pinging problem. It de-tunes at said above and you loose about 15-20hp, and your timinig is changed. Its pretty rare.. but if you do have it there is no way around it, unless you get your engine tuned and a ECU flash.. just a easy way for Dodge to fix a lemon, instead of putting a new engine in it...

so if it has AC on the end it doesnt have the death flash? I've heard that alot of the v8's have gotten the death flash and ive also heard of some v6's getting ittoo. just wanted to make sure mine didnt have it, although i do wonder what the AB one means, because as long as i can remember i didnt "authorize any software update"

 

the AC code is the wrong code, look at the AA code you mentiond above.. Thats the code you need to look at.

Mine says the same thing on the autorized update crap..

 

yea mine to i just dont know what the number is and mine ends in AA?? is that good??? or bad??
