holy-freakin-crap! where did you price the knuckle from? I'm assuming straight from Dodge? I was going to go to a salvage yard to pick one up if I needed too.. I'm cheap.. haha have you had to take that bolt back out for any reason since you installed it? Just wondering if you can re-use it or not since the package warns not too.. but you know how those warnings go sometimes..

From the Dodge dealer it was a bit over $600 and it was around $560 from an aftermarket auto parts store. I was searching the salvage yards for a used knuckle and apparently they are somewhat rare so I never got a price on one. I haven't had to remove the bolt so far but I'm guessing the threads on the bolt will stretch if re-used. If I have to take it apart again for any reason I'll probably replace the bolt with a new oversize one just to be safe.

There was a TSB from Dodge regarding the stripped caliper bolts. The Dodge parts guy even printed it off for me. Dodge states that using a thread repair kit is ok. I did mine in about 10 Minutes. I ordered a new caliper pin and got the Heilicoil kit for the thread repair. You want M9X1.25 kit, Heilicoil part# 5546-9. It only cost around $20.00 total for the pin and the Heilicoil kit. Better than buying a new knuckle!

I replaced my shocks in January. I went with Rancho RS2000. I couldn't be happier.

excuse my ignorance.. but what is a helicoil kit? Is that just a tap & dye set? Thanks for the info and I plan on calling my dealership on Monday to see if they have any info regarding this issue.

Heilicoil is a thread repair kit. Drill a new hole. Thread in the Heilicoil. Simple to do. All you need is a drill and needlenose pliars.

no, it works, but tap and dye is always the better plan...somtimes you cant however then use the Heilicoil brand system

so are you saying you drill out the pre-existing hole and insert this heilicoil thing? I'm pretty mechanically saavy, but this if the first time I've heard of this.. does it work something like a wall anchor? i.e. drill hole in wall, insert anchor, run screw in and the ancher spreads to hold it in place?

I can't find the copy of the TSB the dealer gave me but I am sure your dealer could print a copy for you. It gives detailed instructions for the thread repair. I got my Helicoil kit from local parts store.
