Default Good oil change

So I finally got around to changing my oil, and in the past all my oil changes have been very very messy usally I will end up with a good portion of the oil on my person or on the floor. I don't know why it just ends up that way. However today was different I didn't get any oil on the floor and the only oil that got on me was from when I took the filter off. I also used mobile 1 synthetic for the first time. The oil that I drained most definitetly needed changing it was very broken down. I was just happy with the results of the oil change that I had to tell others.

awesome...yea it took me a little while on my cherokee to get it were i didn't get it all over the place...a larger drain pan that holds more than the oil your trying to get out helps too[8D].

Also somthing that I thought was a problem is either the location or the size or even both of hole in the skid plate where the drain plug is. When you pull the plug out the oil shoots out far enough that it just get up on top that skid plate and fills it up. So I now use a funnel. However I once used a funnel that had an exit hole too small so it just filled the funnel up. That made a huge mess.

yea the oil filter is in a really bad place on the 4.7s and the access hole they give you is barely big enough for the filter, i have never had any problems getting the drain plug out ofthe bottom tho, never made a mess out of that personally, and on the 3.9s the filter is located pretty well to avoid mess so i dont have too much trouble, its just the location on front of the engine that they decided to use for the 4.7s

huh, I always thought oil changes were pretty easy on these trucks. I've done harder ones.... you should try one on a gen3 dak. you will get oil every where but the bucket.

but I always use castrol GTX syntec 10w30 and a fram synthetic oil filter in both my trucks, well the 88 gets the used oil outta the 99 and a cheap filter.

isnt that bad for the 88 to put used oil into it, i would never reuse oil
