Default Air leak or something?

Well today I was showing my friend how to check his tranny fluid, and I was under the hood and I hear this noise like seaping air. I had the heater on so I turned it off and it still did it changed the gears, still no go. Im not sure what it is but Nothing is leaking out just sounds like air being let out. Is this normal? Is it something to be worried about?

Chris

do you have a CAI? mine makes that noise.

or it could be a vacuum leak somewhere.

well....... as some one else pointed out, take a 1ft section of a garden hose and put one end up to your ear and the other end just move it around the engine lookingfor the noise. and that shouldtellyou where the noise is comming from.
