Heat\AC Control whining in accessory
Ok so today I had to take the dash out (not completely out) cuz I needed some room to slide some wires thru the side of the truck. I had the negative terminal off the entire time. Whatever wires I unplugged..I made sure they were plugged in. Which wasn't much. There was the like one wire harness i unplugged and a small harness under the steering column that was mounted on the metal bar that is under there. There were only 2 ground wires on the side of the truck that i unhooked. So...everything all hooked up...all back in place. I was happy I got my wires all organized nicely. So I go ahead and rehook the power. I readjusted the cargo lamp switch, and then I noticed weird things happening. Everything is off wen it's set to off...but once i adjust to any other setting...the lights where the switches for the heat/ac is...just stay on. I also noticed my interior lights don't turn on at all unless i press them manually. I have custom gauge that are powered by the power outlet. They seem to have lost power wen i have the cargo lamp switch in the "off" position, but once I adjust to another setting..the lights just go off. There is no power goin to the gauges anymore. I also noticed when I have the key set to accessory position...I hear this whining sound coming from somewhere in the center. I also noticed one more thing...my truck does not start up very well either. Seems to start up very..weakly. Even with the engine on, I still experience all the above. Does anyone have any idea?
are you sure you hooked everything back up? and it could just be a bad ground. I would take the ground wires back off that you had off before and sand then down a bit to get a better connection, and make sure all your connectors are tight. thats the only thing I can think of if it worked fine before you did all this stuff.
Yea well I'm not sure what those 2 ground wires are for. They are the ones under the dash sidebrackets right in the kick panels. I mean if my aftermarket gauge face isn't getting adequate power, then something is not right in that line where the power outlet is. But i don't see how that effects the interior lights from turning on wen the door is open, or how the cargo lamp adjuster works. The only thing that works on that switch is the off position and the bed light. Everything like the headlights and stuff get the same power as before. What can explain that buzzing/whining sound somewhere in the center of the dash when it's in accessory mode?
edit: I should include that the power adjustment for the odometer still works fine. When the headlights are on, the lights for the heat/ac control lack power.

ok here's an update. I checked the grounds and they are fine. I reset everything with the ignition and somehow for whatever reason...the interior lights are working fine now. The aftermarket gauge lights are getting power, and the heat/ac control lights are working when they are supposed to.
But I still get the whining sound in accessory mode, and I think I found out where it is coming from. I took the glove box out again to look at the only wire harness i disconnected, it's been reconnected, of course. I put the key in accessory and I found out that whatever this wire harness is plugged into...that's where I'm getting the whining from. I know this cuz I feel the harness vibrate, and it chages it's tone when I move it around, but for some reason I can't disconnect it again, but I'll try again after I post this.
I also noticed another thing. When I have the key set to the run position (engine off) after about 30 seconds or so, I get a check gauges light, and I notice the battery voltage gauge goes low. My truck will start fine from teh off position, but after it's in teh run position, it will start very weakly.
Here's the pic of the wire harness...

yea i just got it unplugged and I found out what it is. It is Heat/AC control. I unplugged it..no more sound..and no more Heat/AC. Makes sense why the the whining would go away when I turn on the Heat/AC. But why is it doing this..?

Ok...i think i may have the solution to the problem...but not sure how to get to the solution. As I said earlier I had an aftermarket gauge face...it is hooked up to my cigarette lighter, and it is a solid connection. Now as I was driving today...i noticed that my gauge face lights were..flickering with every bump. The heat/ac lights were goin with it. So that tells me that there is a loose connection on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. As I got in my driveway and parked and bout to get out..I noticed the same symptoms as listed above that I thought were cured. As I was about to the leave the car...the interior lights didnt come on again, and the heat/ac lights stayed on unless i put the cargo lamp switch to off. And now I noticed my door locks didnt wanna work electronically. Any help appreciated, please.
