catalytic converter replacement

Default catalytic converter replacement

need to replace my catty but don't want to spend and are and a leg, so i found some on the net for good price, was wonder how hard it is to replace myself?? do i have to wld it in there or will some clamps work???

the origional factory cat is just help on to the rest of the system w/ clamps, so that is what i would do if i were to replace it, just put a new set of clamps onto it welding would be more than a little excessive

i dont agree, i always weld exhaust, clamps just dont get as good of a seal... and i hate exhaust leaks...

do you need the catalytic converter?? i dont live anywhere where deq is an issue...

cat replacement isnt that hard just cut the old one out then weld the new one up with a MIG welder just make sure you jack your truck up to where you have enough room to work. but if you dont have to worry about passing smog in your area just punch the old one out and save yourself a horse or 2

Jeg's sells high flows for $53.99. $50 for an install at a muffler shop here. i didn't note a difference in power or mileage, personally. how much are you looking to spend?

id replace it, ya ya dont have emmisions we dont here either, but can limit shops from working on the truck here its also a i think $250 fine if you get caught wiuthout...
