Default Did I Make A Mistake?

I just purchased my first dodge. It's a 2004 Dakota QC V6 with 23,500 miles on it and I noticed a niose under the hood and the dealership narrowed it down to the AC pully. What I was wondering is there any know issues with this engine I should be worried about?

not sure as I have the 4.7 but from what I've read, the 3.9 is bullet proof... do you notice the noise all the time or just when you have the ac or defrost on? if you hear it all the time, it might be the pulley.. if just when the ac is on the compressor itself might be bad which if it is, take it from experience, get it changed cause if it freezes up on your, your belt is going to smoke like hell and snap pretty quick... leaving you stranded.

I am pretty sure that the 3.7 was only available on the gen3 dakotas. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I have the 3.9l with 130,000 miles on it, and it runs strong. Regular maintainence and you will never have a problem.

ya the 3.9's are bullet proof. my 88 has been through hell and back and has been drivin for a week with no oil in it once[:@] and she keeps on goin, it needs a timing chain bad, but oh well

and the 3.7's came in the 04's I dunno why they changed it for that year

yea they really should not have changed the 3.9 it is such an amazingly good engine, at least as far as reliability goes, it may not have as much power as the 8s but its still a great engine, they should have kept it

ok now ive said the same thing idk how many times
