hay, whats up?
have a 97 dakota 3.9 looking for more power! not sure what the best start would be. Anyone have any info on forced induction for the 3.9 is it worth it, or should i just go ahead and move to v8. I am not that familar with the 3.9, if the bottom end can handle any abuse.

Actually, i've heard that the 3.9 is a pretty good little engine to build. With the righ combinations, it can actually make some pretty good power. I am a 4.7 myself, so i dont know alot about the 3.9. I would imagine that the upgrades are still pretty much the same. Also depends on how much you are willing to spend. You could open up the top end of the motor with a nice intake and throttle body (or carb) dunno what you have. A CAI intake kit, and some exhaust. Just do some research. There are all kinds of people building these trucks, and ALOT of useful information on the web.

 

cai, exhaust, v-8 throttle body, etc.. just search the boards.. the 3.9 is the same as the 5.2 and 5.9 v8's... not the 4.7... its a bulletproof engine, one of chryslers best built motors, just got to deal with that damn tapping noise though
