HELP!!!4 wheel drive stuck in hi!!!! HELP!!!
I hope someone has seen this before, the dealership didn't know what it was when I took my truck in. Last weekend my battery died so I put the truck in neutral and rolled it down the hill (which I learnd was risky) It rolled about 100 feet to a stop where I pulled the battery and put in a new one.
I had been in 4 hi pulling a trailer, now that I have the new battery I don't have any lights on my 4 wheel controldial nor will it shift out of 4 hi, I can turn the dial but don't get anything, I have disconnected the battery, rolled the truck in the opposite direction several time. The truck drives fine, its just stuck in 4 hi
Any HELP PLEASE

No, putting it in 4wd only engages the transfer case. There is no center differential - differential implies that there is a difference in output speeds allowed. The non-AWD transfer cases have a locked 50/50 front rear bias, and that's what will break. The front differential is open unless someone installs an aftermarket limited slip or locker, and the rear axle is either open or limited slip from the factory, or locked if added later.
He could start popping U-joints or CV joints, which would be better than breaking the actual transfer case, but those are way cheaper to fix and Murphy's law states that the most expensive link should break first.
