Default Hitch

Anyone know the tow rating for my 03 dakota sxt 4x4 3.9L wan to put on a hitch for my boat its about 1800lbs including trailer. However i'm thinking of getting a class 2 or 3 hitch thats certified for 3500lbs cuz i need to tow my horse trialer too, and its always nice to know that if u needa help somebody tow something u can tow a little more. so i'm thinking 3500lb tow trialer. But i dont know what my trucks certified for. I check the owners manual it says ask dealer or find a tow rating chart.

ok, since were talking about hitches, I have a street scene 5000lbs hidden hitch on mine now. do you think I can tow more than that? with my stock hitch I was towing 7-8k+. I hope I can still get away with that or close to that. what do ya think?

Johnny is that hitch rated? The reason I ask is a good friend of mine bought an ebay hitch supposedly class IV rated to tow his race rig. He got the thing and the welds were bubblegum and crude. It had a sticker, but anyone can print a sticker.

ya, mine has a 5000lb sticker on it. but its not a cheap ebay one. street scene is a good company. I just hope I can still tow a truck and trailer now. I never thought of it until after I bought all the stuff.

but I might hook onto the tailer and see how she does.

Cool, It would be good to get a dry run in trailer only. I used to tow my race car and would religously have the truck topped off and then run trailer only and full fuel to get the feel, then once i put the car on, I would do a quick ride to get a feel how it did loaded. i hate suprises. what are you towing?

I have a 2500lb car trailer and I tow my buddies 56 chevy the odd time to the track. but I mostly tow my stuff. I buy old clunkers and then take good parts off them and then scrap them out. I will buy a car/truck for under $100, then I get 200-300 when Iscrap them. so its usually almost every weekend I'm towing something.

Only hitches I would even trust are Draw-tite, Curt and Reese. Hidden Hitch maybe. Others are more or less garbage.

Towed 6000lb trailers (loaded) with a 2wd 3.9LV6 5spd dakota. Had weight distributing hitch though.
