Default Odometer ?

I've searched this site for an answer but haven't found one yet. Has anybody else seen this problem? My truck (1997 Dakota, 2WD, 3.6L) has approximately 170,000 miles. About two weeks ago, I noticed the odometer jump to 199,999 and it stayed that way for about two day. After that, it just started ticking off miles like normal, 200,001 and up. That concerned me since I just lost about 30,000 miles off this truck. Over the course of the last week this odometer has jumped up to 800,000 miles. Has anybody else ever experienced this? If nothing else I can finally say I'm getting excellent gas mileage, but am also interested in any fix.

Thanks.
