Default Trany slow shifting

My Transmission in my 2000 Dakota is shifting SLOW & hits hard when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. I have had the oil & filter changed but no help. I have 102000 miles on it. ANYTHING I can do to help this short of selling it off?

Do you have a 42RE,44RE, or 46RE trans. this for all of them. The seal in the front drum retainer has a lip seal and over time it start leaking fluid pressure. When this happens the transmission will upshift from 2nd to 3rd over 40 plus to 50 mph. The only fix at this time is a seal kit, and inspect the clutches.

adjust the TV cable, it might be too stretched too, You might have to replace it.

Slow shifting on any automatic transmission is always caused by worn clutches or poor fluid pressure.
