Default Odd noise when cornering...

Hey Guys i just got my 2000 dakota r/t with 67,xxx on the clock a little over a week ago, now i love my truck but when im cornering at slow speeds i hear a sorta rubbing/whining noise coming from the rear. My mechanic pulled the plug and the fluid is good, so signs of metal shavings, but he didnt have time to drive it (I stopped in on my way homw from work) Now my buddy has a toyota supra(different world i know) that had the same problems and it was his wheel bearings... Could they make that kind of a noise under those conditions? And is it possable for them to be work with the millage i have? Its really annoying and i wanna fix it, I hope you guys can help!!! thanx...
