Default brakes

Hey guys, I need new front brakes. I was searching Napa and what is the difference between just plain disk brakes and ceramix brakes? Which one would be better for my truck?

Well, I'm guessing that the regular disk pads are semi-metallic. You probably won't notice too much of a difference in them on your truck unless you race it or tow a lot with it. If you do that then the ceramics would be your best bet because they dissipate heat better which means you will have less fade. The biggest difference you will see other than that is that typically semi-metallic pads give off more brake dust so you will have to clean your wheels more often. I like Napa pads though and use them on everything I do brakes on. Either way you will be happy with them.

Thanks alot, well cleaning them isnt a problem, I work in a detail shop. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't get the cheap brakes cause thats whats causing them to squeal in the first place.

You might get a little more noise out of the semi-metallics but I've never had a problem withsquealingsinceI started usingNapa pads. I actually drive out of my way to go to Napa for most of my vehicle needs. I've just always had good luck with them compared to the others.

I notice a heck of a lot more dust with the cheap pads. I will never buy them again. Send the extra money. It is worth it to me. Ceramics have been great.

Well, I got the ceramics, so on Thursday my boss is going to put them on for me, and all I have to do is buy him lunch...pretty sweet deal. Now an oil change is next.

good luck w/ the oil change, and have plenty of rags handy, taking the filter off makes a mess w/ that engine

I got NAPA ceramics for my Dak, and I gotta tell you if these are low dust, I'd hate to see the alternative. 24 hours after washing my wheels they're visably dirty with a film, 48 hours after washing they're almost completely black.[:@]
I won't be getting them again.
