spark knock?
Its been forever since I posted on here, but hopefully yall have the answers.
I have a 2000 dak 4.7L 2WD that has recently developed what I think is spark knock. The truck has 122,000 miles on it. I changed the plugs a week ago, and immediately noticed the rattling when under hard acceleration. That was when I put Bosch platinum +4 plugs in. I thought those might be the issue, so I took them out and put in some autolite platinums...Well, I still have the problem. I pulled my bike on a trailer today, and really noticed it when I put my foot down. While driving normally, I dont have any rattle. I put a bottle of SeaFoam in the tank, but that didnt seem to do anything. Also replaced the PCV thinking that might help. Any ideas? Ive done some searches and there were alot of problems with plenum gaskets...Does the 4.7L even have a plenum gasket?
Also, I dont know if its related or not, but it seems my motor has started to use a slight bit of oil. No blue smoke or anything, but uses about 1/2 quart every thousand or so miles. (highway sustained 65mph) in town driving it doesnt use that much. I have run synthetic oil since 15,000 miles if that makes a difference...Help please!

sounds like your plenum gasket is gone in your intake. look down your TB and see if you have any oil puddles. you can also do a search on it and it will tell you how to fix it.
and I would also change your plugs again
........platnum plugs make magnum motors run like crap. I would use good ol copper plugs.

i just switched out my plugs to the autolite 3923. every now and then with the champions i had a wierd fire or detonation. now with these plugs it is smooth. alsoi triedthe plats. they were terrible in my 4.7 i lost between 45/50 miles to a tank of gas. only the good ole copperones for the 4.7
Yeah....i would say its deffinatly the plugs. I put in a set of bosch platnums a couple of months ago and got the same thing. The truck seemed to idle just fine, but under a load the damn thing would knock. I changed to a cooler plug and it stopped.
Deffinatly chage to a cooler plug. I would bet my paycheck that is your problem. These motors just do not like the platnum plugs.

what kind of gas are you using?
my dakota did the same thing started knocking when i accelerated, all i ever used before was regulear unleaded. i switched to unleaded plus and just like that the knocking quit.

I called the dodge dealer here in jacksonville NC and they said that the 4.7 doesnt have a plenum gasket? HMMM....I will switch the plugs back this weekend, but should I go with the colder autolite ones? Also, anyone have ideas about the oil usage?
