EVAP Canister
[>:]Hey everyone . I just joined the forum so whats up > I have a 2001 dakota QC with a 4.7 . I love the truck its great i just put a cold air intake and it made a hell of a adiffrence . But i have one problem . my engine light has been on for some time now and it has always said it has an EVAP canister leak . First it was a small leak but i hooked up the scanner to it and now its a large leak . Has anyone had this problem ?
check your hoses, gas cap, etc, find yourself a manual and check it out pretty much... no offense but i highly doubt a CAI made a world of a difference, most likely she feels peppier but really is a warm air intake, is it a K&N?
I have a 2003 Dodge with the 3.9L V6 and I had the same promblem months ago and it ended up being the vacuum hose. I had it replaced, I didn't have time to do it myself so I took it to in and cost about $300 or so to have replaced. I'm about 99% sure it isn't the canister. I would mainly focus on looking at vacuum hoses. Somewhere it either has a hole or a crack, and also look at where the hoses connect that might be where a crack is coming from. Good luck finding it.
Damn thats alot for a vacum line . but i'll check it oput after work today and see whats up with it thanks
