Default A little help.please

Having a bit of a problem with my 2001 Dakota. It seems the fan motor(not the engine fan, but the cab fan) has decided that it will only work on the highest setting(also noted that if I have the AC on and turn the fan down a notch not only doesit stop working, but it turns the AC off). Before I start ripping things apart, anyone have any thoughts why this happened, or a fix?

Thanks

I'm not sure maybe some others can know for sure, but I would look at the switch first.

it is your blower motor resistor pack. its a $15 part at the dealer and takes 5 minutes to replace.

It is the resistor that is bad, but it is usually caused by the blower motor drawing too many amps. We have a fleet of vans that eat resistors. when they get down to eating 1 resistor a month we replace the blower motor normally $100 from mopar-if you buy an aftermarket without the squirrell cage you'll wish you would have spent the extra money!!!

Thanks to everyone who replied. Picked up a resistor(under $13) and replaced it. Sort of a bitch when you have stubby fingers trying to get at the screws, even with removing one of the housing covers.

Again my thanks to you all.

Mine went too.... Some advice given me by the parts guy at the dealer, Turn off the Fanbefore shutting off the engine. The power surges add upover time andlead the resistor to blow. The pain is getting the dang screws back in, I had a real headache after doing my resistor from the blood rushing to my head.

That sucks.. i have remote start, so i ALWAYS leave the A/C or Heater on.. so when i start it its either nice and cold or nice and hot.. been doing it for close to a year now and been working good.. nice since i said that they will blow tomorrow.. [:@]

My first port but I am having the issue where thefan does not work at all. Fuses and Relayslook good. I swapped them out for know good ones and still no fan. Even at the high setting the fan does not work. Could this still be the resistor pack? If so where is it in the dash. This only just occured and I have yet to look at my manual.
Thanks for the help.
