all said and done i would say about 15k? after labor, taxes, parts, headache, beer, nachos, hotdogs, clothes, and 1pt of blood from your local hospital.
I'd say thats probably close. Well I'd at least saying about 1.5pts of blood. But it could be cheaper if you can do the labor yourself or know someone that can help for a lot less then a shop.

for 15k you could drop a hemi in there.

but it would be around 7-10k if you do all the work your self.

putting a diesel in there would be around 5-7k. so I would go that route

im still debating if i want to put the 5.9 ISB cummins into my truck or get a 5.9 r/t engine and bolt it up to a 4x4 based tranny, that would be craazy... more do-able then the diesel, but nothing beats a cummins

Hey shamus, doing a search under "engine swap" or something similar would yeild some great results for this topic. It has been covered many times and there are some threads that will be very useful to you.

I'm either planning on doing a 3.9 diesel swap on the 88 or just sell my 99 and go buy a 97-01 2500 ram 5.9 diesel. I wanna see if I can find a good deal on a ram first before I start rippin my 88 apart.

Hmmm, I have a 5.9 and tranny ready to be pulled out of my truck.

Want it?

I basically have a donor truck for sale if you want. The truck is pretty beaten up from previous owners and I'm sure I didn't help any.

01 5.9 R/T w/ 108k miles.

Motor was strong but the rearend wasn't lol

Let me know, im sure we can work something out.
