Default Volume guard?

I have noticed that when I play either the radio or my iPod in the Dakota that after a certain volume it will remain there for two seconds and drop down quite low. I was wondering if there was a volume guard that comes stock, like to prevent issues with hearing emergency vehicles and stuff like that. If so, any way of disarming it?

I was going to replace my cassette player w/a CD player, but since I have an iPod I figured I'd use that. My XM is going to be swapped from my car to the truck as well, so no point in putting money into something I really don't need.

I was looking into a Pioneer. I was wondering if maybe it was just a short or something along the line. Soon as I get the chance I'll probably replace it.

Thanks =)

My headunit has a usb flash drive deal on it, so I got 2 gb of music in my truck. It rocks.
