Default Tranny swap

I did a search but it turned up nothing usfull. I want to find a junk yard manual tranny and swap that for my automatic. Damn, I hate automatics. If I find a 3.9 with a manual then it should just bolt right up correct? Do you think one from another sizeengine will work? What else would I need to do or purchase for this swap besides put a hole in the floor and buy the interior stuff for a manual? I hope someone has done this before and can give me a little insight on the process. Thank's

I have an 01 regular cab dakota. auto with 45,000 miles on it. with a 3.9 engine.

your best bet is find a dakota exactly like your to do the swap, cause you need the 3.9 manual computer too, and with a junk yard transmission, id pop that aapart and rebuild it since it's out and parts maybe rusted and shot inside

yea we droped a new 2.5 in my 98.the new engine was a auto but we stuck the orginal 5 speed back on. like Fox said ur best gettin the 3.9 manual then you wont get something that wont work. and im not sure what it is, but when u switch from a auto to a manual theres a different wiring set up. with mine there was anyways and that could also be different. It will run because my father never put the right wiring on right away and she run but the truck wouldnt drive smooth
