we hav had no problems w/ our trannys(we have 2 dakotas and a durango) and the 4.7 is an awesome engine, we bought the durango new in 02(end of 02 model year) and it now has 65000 miles on it and has not been in for service even once since we got it, just done regular maintance

My 03 QC 4.7 2WD, plain and simple, it's an awesome truck! I would have preferred the 4WD, but I realized I would never really need it. Better gas mileage on the 2WD was the kicker for me. I got a good deal from the original owner, a woman that didn't beat it up (my wife's friend), and it had less than 60k on it (Though I found out a month after I bought it that it had no air filter in it. Kinda scary). Since then I've done NUMEROUS mods to it, K&N intake, Flowmaster 50 exhaust SI/DO, SuperChips, Seafoamed the engine (which DRASTICALLY helped its idle), NGK plugs, Viper fan kit on its way, etc. and it is an absolute beast of a truck. The things you can do to the 4.7 are staggering. Most basic upgrades aren't that expensive either.
From my research, the 4.7 is very reliable, and forgiving. The one you're looking at has low miles, and it clears the vehicle check, DO IT! You won't be disappointed.

Hey folks, thanks for all the great posts on the 4.7, I certainly have faith that it would be a good choice but I think for now I will keep my current RC, it is nearing the middle of summer and I don't want to get into having truck payments again for a awhile yet. Thats the great thing about my truck I guess.

I have some upgrades planned for the 3.9, mostly suspension but maybe a new rear end, mines not a limited slip so I'll be sure and post some questions again! I am thinking maybe a pre-runner future for the RC? Who knows...
