I had my 3.9 doing205 km/h which I believe is over118 mile/h and it never hit any limit that I know of, granted I was going down a very large mountain in the Rockies. The only thing I was scared of was the tires flying apart. We were actually watching the speed rate on a GPS as well and it confirmed the same as the speedo.

There is a trick to get around the speed limiter. If you toggle the key to off and then back on really quick when you're near speed limiter, it will let you go past it. Don't try this at home!!..... Your driveway isn't long enough

my first dakota was a 3.9 and it wouldnt shut off. it would just hold at about 110. the dak i have now has a 4.7 and it shuts down around 98. but honestly who needs to go that fast in a truck. i figure if i can cook the other guy off the line then im pretty much golden when it comes to racing.

And that is why we have the side of the road lol. Just in case you need to leak a bit.

i want to say you will just slow down really quick in that split second stalling the engine while the truck is in gear, plus you dont fully turn off the pcm in that matter since you cannot really turn the key while the truck is still in gear (automatics), you can turn off the engine but i beleive that pcm is still getting juice... id rather spend the $350 on the superchips programmer to take off the speed limiter, versus risk screwing up the engine or transmission for that matter just for a quick thrill...
