Well I have a few question to start off:
1. Will the hemi bolt onto a rebuilt a500, which I will get done to handle this much power. If so Do I need to do anything other than bolt it on? Aka a computer set up for this or something?
2. This or I can drop in another dodge tranny but I would rather stick with the stock dodge one. (less mods to do.)
3. I know It would need a bit bigger parts, like diff's and everything. Will I have to replace the axels/drive shafts? Or Can I leave that there. How hard is it to get bigger parts/stronger in the diff. I would do this myself.
4. How much money would I need of Course I would find a rolled ram that runs.

 

i wouldnt doubt the a500 can bolt up to the 5.7.. i beleive its the same bolt pattern.. but the engine and transmission mounts in the vehicle itself i beleive will be definately different, personally i would just get a whole new stronger transmission then the a500, probabally the 9.25 rear could handle the hemi, not sure, wait for others to chime in to get a better idea

 

The only reason why I ask this is I have had nothing but problems with this truck. The tranny is junk, and it has been rebuilt and failed agian. The place I bought it from said all maitenance was done. When I checked the rad it was the right color at the dealership. But when I got home and checked it was brown and green. The oil was fairly dark too. But the problem is the tranny had a cork gasket. They told me now that I would get less than what it was worth. (Well what I paid.) But If I don't find it worth getting my money back, I want to drop a hemi in. It would be a nice truck than, not some peice of junk v6 which it is now. (I would also get it repainted.)

 

thebest way is to buy a wrecked truck with a hemi in it and then so the swap. this way you have all the parts you need and theres no guess work. then you still have a truck you can sell and make some of your money back.

 

Thats what I had planned. Only thing that will be hard is the wiring.But I guess I can label Everything.

Yea I have looked into this. There is one who put in a 5.7l with a tranny and one who put in a 5.7 with a tranny from a v8. I don't know how tight the room will be, but This truck is UNDER powered.

 

I don't think this will be worth it though. All the work needed,wiring and by then I might as well have used the money for a new truck.

 

drop a 408 in it with a chrysler 9.25 3:90 gears and torqueflite 727 transmission. it'll be a hell of alot easier than trying to drop a 5.7 hemi since it wasnt designed to fit in the truck. a built 408 would be more powerful then the 5.7 hemi anyway. then put some slicks on it and take it to the track and tell me what it runs because thats what im doing to my truck.

 

ya, a 408 would be more practical. alot people want to do motor swaps but just endup either keeping it as is or sell the truck and buy one with a V8 already.
