Default V8 exhaust on V6?

I have an 01 Extended Cab V6 Automatic 2WD. from what i've been reading, some of the V8s have 4 O2 sensors and 2 cats. i have not read anywhere that that came on any of the V6 motors. I have the V6 with the 2 cats and 4 O2 sensors. Was something cobbed up from previous owner or is this really suppose to be there?

i think the v6's have 1 cat and 2 precats right off the exhaust headers, and i believe its 2 o2 sensors for the pre cats and on the regular cat, before and after.. so yeah, 4 o2 sensors if im not mistaken, feel free to correct me

ok, from the exhaust manifolds is the pipe. one on each side of course. each pipe has a small cat on it. Both cats have O2 sensors right before, and right after. Then they join together and went into what i thought could have been another cat but didn't make much sense to me so i thought it could just be a resonator, so i cut it out. No engine codes popped up or anything so i'm not worried about that part of it.

sounds like u cut the real cat off... cause those pre cats i beleive are part of the california emission testing from what i read in the manual... well since your cat is knocked off, nice a loud?.. haha if you have emission testing in your area, be sure you put a new one on before inspection

i'm in NY state. to be honest i dk if i need that to pass. lol. i do need to get at least the leaks fixed because my inspection is already up. oops. Whatever that was, whether it was a resonator or another cat, it was heavy as hell, and clogged with a bunch of crap. So is my exhaust set up suppose to be the way it is or what?

yea it was suppose to have it there and that was probably the real cat that was clogged real bad you should probably hear a tone difference now with it off and all smoother exhaust flow if it was clogged bad...but yea im pretty sure like fox said that one was the real cat
