i have a 2003 dakota qcab 4.7 4wd (awd) 30,000 miles5-45re automatic trans and 3.55 open gears front and back. ihave seen a2wd of same year with 3.55 limited slip. canmy differential's be swaped outto 3.55 limited-slip ? would this affect the awd? i've only had this truck 4 months and not even sure how awd works. is there a reason dodge put an open gear on a 4wd? i would appreciate any input. thanks.

 

I've got a AWD with Limited Slip rear diff. Its also the same ratio (3.55) but I'm pretty sure its a 9.25. This means that its ok to have a LSD with AWD but I don't know if they make a 8.25 LSD. If you can find one, it will work with the rest of the AWD system.

make sure the spring perch angles are the same, but otherwise yeah swap away.
