Correcting For gear Change!

RE: Correcting For gear Change!
its my understanding that the speed sensor reads the revolution of the tone ring on the ring gear - which is directly attached to the axles, wheels, and tires. and that changing gear ratios has no effect on speedo, but changing tire and/or wheel sizes does. that's why the hypertec speedo correction only asks one question.. what is your tire diameter.
good luck on the 4.10's, i think you will really like them.

you will love the 4.10 i went from 3.55 to the 4.10 and what a difference. speedo is not off but the rpm are 300 difference now. also becarefull in the rain. i had to learn how to drive again because evey traffic light or stop sign i would come off the line spinning. so easy on the take off until you get use to them.

This is something I want to do also. Havent really looked into it too much. Just curious of a ballpark of how much it will cost, where should I get it done at, and do I need to buy the gears then take it somewhere or would the shop that I get it done at have all the parts?

Make sure you buy a decent brand of gears. I bought Motive and haven't had any problems. It costed me around $900-1000 for both gear sets/auburn posi unit. I had a friend install them so labor was pretty much FREE! I got my setup from www.nationaldrivetrain.com but I think www.ringpinion.comis probably cheaper.
