Default Please help 1998 dodge dakota

My 19998 Dodge Dakota will not start. We thought it was the battery at first and tried to jump start it. That helped somewhat but as soon asI let go of the key and the gas peddle the car would die.I put a new battery in just in case however that did not work. Mydad, whom is a master mechanic, believes it is the fuel filter and pump. Please help! Thank you! [:@]

As long as you keep your foot on the pedal will it run fine? If so Clean or replace your IAC in the throttlebody. It's held on the back with 2 screws and 1 plug. It's the Idle Air Control plunger.

Oddly enough this happened to me this morning. I ended up having to drive my girlfriends car into work this morning, as I didn't have time to try and diagnose the problem. Seems to me that I will have to crack a couple cold ones when I get home.
