3.9 2001 engine start problems
20001 Dodge Dakota 3.9l 115k.
ondays of heavy humidity,my truck may not start. This morning it took several seconds crankingto get the engine to fire. When I released the key it fired once, then I tryedcranking it again and it ran a couple of cycles more before it quit. This goes on till it seems to evaporate the moisture, the engine starts and runs with a rough idle.I coded the engine with no success.I have changed the disributor cap and rotor this summer. Can you give me any help?

my mower use to do that until i changed the coil. you said you changed the cap and wires but what about the coil. also you may have a slight crack in the cap. at night while truck is running open the hood and check for light sparks if there are any then you may have cracked the cap by accident.
I have close to the same problem. Never had problems starting, just when it's really hot and humid there's sometimes the truck will stall and almost back fire sometimes when starting off.
I also did the cap and rotor.. I was thinking plugs and wire's next.
