2001 Dodge Dakota Help!!
Hello Everyone... I am new to the boards and I need some help. I just bought a 2001 dodge dakota with around 72k. It islosing some oil and i was just wondering if this was normall for the engine which is the 4.7 V8. Between oil changes it burns roughly 1qty to a quart and a half. Thedealer i bought this from said that this was normal from the research he did. Please let me kow what you guys think... The truck run perfect and does not smokewhats so ever aswell as does not have any leaks.
Thanks for you help,
Chris

It's a little more than normal, but not enough to justify spending a lot of money to try to figure it out or fix it. Check the obvious oil leak spots, and check your oil every 1,000 miles or so to make sure it doesn't get progressively worse. That's my $0.02.
Yea, it's probably just normal.
I remember when GM was having piston slap issues on their earlier Vortec motors, they released a TSB saying consumption of about 1 quart every 2,000 miles was normal.
Like Razorhorn said, just look over the basics, but it's not bad, so no need to go on a big hunt.
