front end clunk and squeek FIXED!
UPPER BALL JOINTS and front end alignment, no squeeks or clunks or rattles. Now I need to identify a noise once in a while I feel in the steering column.
1998 Dakota 4X4 5.2 153M miles. I've had this truck for a year, had a rattle/clunk when I got it but it is a nice truck and I thought I would just fix it later.I had my wife start it up and turn the wheel back and forth while I watched the inside of drivers side tire from the ground. turned all the way to the right and then as it atrts back she feels the clunk in the steering wheel and I see it jump a tiny bit but not sure what is causing it. I'm thinking maybe the axle shaft but not sure, a lot of parts there that I know nothing about, tie rod ends, ball joints, idler arm, and other stuff. I also have a lot of squeeking that when I drive slow with windows down I can here coming from the front end, every little dip in the road or bump it squeeks. I greases all the fittings I could find, 4 I think and that didn't help the squeek.I had an alignment done a month ago cause my tires on the front, especialy the drivers side wore out in the inside edge real bad and just had tires put on 2 days ago so I need to get it right.

Check the upper control arm bolts, bushings, also check upper balljoints. The clunk could be the control arm moving in and out, due to someone not toque-ing to spec. The squeek could be bad bushings with that many miles on the truck im pretty sure you are due for all new bushings and balljoints.
