Hey all, I just bought a 2004 Dakota Qrew Cab 4+4, 4.7 litre. She is used and has 89,000kms on it but is in nice shape. Wanted to know what I should be doing to it right away with this mileage. I want to run synthetic through it and need to know how much oil the 4.7litre takes?? Also what type I should use in my southern Ontario climate (gets real cold) 5w30, 0w40,10w30???

 

I am in Central Alberta, we get some cold winters. I have a 2000 SLT Club Cab 4.7 Auto and in summer I use 10W30 and in Winter 5W30 and that seems to do the truck but I am not running synthetic. To fill mine usually needs roughly 5.5 Litres. On behalf of everyone Welcome! Another Fellow Canadian! I'm sure you'll love your Dak. Mine has been nothing but joy!

 

I use castrol GTX syntec 10w30 all year round and she's still running strong at 210,000kms
