RE: New project (will update as i go..)
err. you should have a clutch fan (big metal fan running on the crank pulley) and you should have another fan on the raditor used for A/C and when the motor gets above 212. It only comes on when you run A/C or the temp gets to a certain point (that the reason why im wiring in a new switch)
also i would suggest installing a 180 thermostat. It will really help out on your running hot problem, also make sure your coolent reservor is full, and that all your fans are working.. normally in stop and go traffic it gets hott.. but crusing down the highway your needle shoudnt move.

That makes perfect sense. In stop and go traffic I have to turn off the A/C (which drives my delicate flower of a wife nuts), after which it runs at the right temp. The dealership that I bought the car from repaired a minor front end damage, replacing the A/C condenser and the tranny cooler. They must have pulled the radiator and didn't put the fan back on. Time to call the dealership again. They are already sick of hearing from me.

ORIGINAL: dak3.9
I'm guessing the 5.2's have 2 fans. Do they? If so,I have the one thats on the crank pulley, but not the one thats mounted on the radiator for the A/C.

If it was like the D then they only started putting the extra e-fan in in 2000. Why don't you try my route out User, I did the mark VIII and for your application it would work out great and you don't even have to get rid of your overflow just trim the top corners on the fan shroud.
