Default How Hard Changing Clutch Fan and Belt Tensioner?

Like it says.

How hard is it to change the clutch fan? Do i have to take out the rad to get to the all the bolts? Or can i take out the fan shroud? Any one done it before? Any tips?

Changing the belt tensioner is that hard? How do i loosen off then belt so i can get it off?

Thanks for the help

BFH, BFW and remove the shroud.. should only be held in by 2 screws... if you cant get it off with a BFH and a BFW go to autozone or somthing and rent the clutch fan removal tool.

and the tensioner pully has a bolt in the middle that you loose up to take the belt off.. when you take out the clutch fan and shroud it will be REAL easy to access.. and take off.

BFH, BFW? wats that? lol i think it might be four bolts? and for the belt tensioner im not sure if the whole thing is gone or not? how would i take the whole thing off? Or does the tensioner go? or does the wheel go. im not too sure... might just buy the whole unit

ide take off the whole unit and spin the pulley.. and listen and feel for any ruff spots or anything.

and BFH and BFW = Big f*cking Hammer, Big F*cking Wrench. duh..

when i took my shroud off it was 2 bolts.. but yours migth be diffrent. W/e works..

on a ram, and probably a dak, the clutch fan nut is 36mm. you can also use a big adjustable wrench. the hard part is holding the stupid water pump pulley. some wp pulleys have bolts on them, so you can grab them with big channel locks.(most don't). some suggest a strap wrench (which breaks). others suggest sticking a screwdriver through the holes in wp pulley (screwdriver bends). some smack the big wrench with a big hammer. (wrench flies off) somebody suggested using an old serpentine belt wrapped around wp pulley and cinched w/ vice grips. the wp pulley does have some holes in it, maybe you can buy or make a tool to fit into those holes. good luck.

haha thought soo. So take off the fan shroud, take off bolts for fan and then go and get a clutch fan tool tool to take it off and then put on the new one. Sweet this should be a nice way to spend a 4 day weekend!! Already lost 60 bucks at the casino today!! Is it worth changing the stock fan with a flex lite one? Althou i should be changing the tensioner first its soo bad makes such a bad rattling noise its embarassing.
